Dr. Chris Kimbrell is from rural southeast Georgia. The son of a veterinarian, Dr. Kimbrell was raised in his father’s mixed animal practice. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Georgia Southern University. He then attended the University of Georgia where he received a Master of Animal and Dairy Science degree prior to attending the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine. While in vet school he was honored to be elected president of his class – and served in this role for all four years. Dr. Kimbrell’s professional interests include emergency and critical care, reproductive medicine, and surgery. When not in the office Dr. Kimbrell enjoys camping and fly-fishing with his wife and fellow veterinarian Dr. Ellen Kimbrell. He can also be found hiking with Addi – his Pitbull mix and upland bird hunting with his French Brittany spaniel – Fen. Dr. Kimbrell is also PennHIP Certified. Veterinarians must complete specialized training and quality-control exercises before becoming certified to perform the PennHIP procedure. This research-based hip-screening procedure has been proven to be the most accurate and precise method to measure hip laxity.
