Before any orthopedic surgery, it will be necessary to bring your pet in for an evaluation. The evaluation may include a digital X-ray of the injury, often necessary to determine the extent of the damage. This will allow your veterinarian to determine the seriousness of your pet’s condition and if orthopedic surgery is appropriate. If it is determined that orthopedic surgery is needed, your veterinarian will prepare and discuss the surgical plan with you and answer any preliminary questions you may have.
Depending on the surgical procedure, we may use bone plates, pins, screws, or artificial joints to make the needed repairs. All of our orthopedic surgeries are conducted using top-of-the-line equipment and materials in order to provide the most effective treatment for your pet.
Surgery is available on both a hospitalized or out-patient basis depending on the surgery performed, the home environment of the pet, and the capability of the owner to manage the pet’s immediate post-operative needs.
Before sedation or general anesthesia, each patient receives a thorough physical examination to identify any potential medical conditions that might endanger your pet’s health. Because not all problems can be detected on examination, we strongly recommend pre-anesthetic bloodwork.
Your pet’s health, safety, and comfort are of utmost importance to us. Our team of caring professional technicians and assistants will monitor your pet before, during, and after surgery and will take exceptional care to ensure a safe and complete recovery. After surgery, our veterinary team will discuss the outcome and outline any follow-up procedures with you.
We offer a convenient on-site pharmacy that can fill your pet’s prescriptions before you leave the hospital.
